A.Brief of Chinese History

The People’ s Republic of China, also known as China, is a country with long history over 5000 years. There were settlements near the range of Yellow River started history from Xia Dynasty, which was began in 4000 BC. The Chinese history passed through Xia Dynasty ,Shang Dynasty, Zhou Dynasty, Qin Dynasty, Han Dynasty, Three kingdoms, Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty,Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty,Qing Dynasty, the Repubilc of China.Till 1949 AD, under the leadership of the Communist Party, Mao Zedong,  pronounced the people’s Republic of China. Then from 1978 opening and reform, China has a 40 years of rapid development.

B.China Traditions and Customs


1.Chinese Festival 

 As essential part of Chinese Culture, Chinese festivals have thousands of years history. All Chinese celebrate the Chinese lunar festival every years, even we get festival holidays.

2.Spring Festival and Lantern Festival

The Spring festival begins on the first day of the first lunar month and last 15 days when the Lantern Festival is finished. In Spring Festival, the whole family will gather together and have a big meal in the first day when or where you are, you must go back home that day. On each day of the festival, there are some traditions will be to do to give a wish for the whole years. All the whole China will be emerged in happiness. The children are more happier because they will get presents in the form of Hong Bao, which are red envelopes with money inside.
The Lantern Festival is the fifteenth day of the Chinese New Year, which means ending. Most cities in China will have decorated red lantern on both of main road, and also have different pattern of lantern hang upon of the tree and park.

3.Tomb Sweeping Day

Qingmingjie, or Tomb Sweeping Day, is very import day for the whole family together again to visit the tombs of their ancestors. The Tombs will be cleaned and tended. The same time they offer alcohol,cigarettes and special snacks to their ancestors and fireworks and incense will be lit. But now because of pollution problems, fireworks and incense are suggested being prohibited.

4.Dragon Boat Festival

Longzhoujie, or Dragon Boat Festival, is famous for its dragon boat races. According to tradition, The Dragon Boat festival is in memory of one patriotic poet, Qu Yuan,who jumped into the river to die for the destruction of Chu State.In order not to let his body be eaten by fish and shrimp, people began to salvage by boat and throw Zongzi at the same time. Now in the festival, everyone will eat Zongzi, which is stick rice dumpling wrapped in leaves and hold dragon boat races.

5.Chinese Valentine's Day and Zhonyuan Ghost Festival

Those two festival are all in the month, even one is for love, the other one is for ghost. Chinese Valentine's Day, also know as Magpie Festival is on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. Romantic legend has it that the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl fell in love, but were stopped by the Weaver Girl's parents. The empress drew the silky River with a golden hairpin to prevent them from meeting each other. So Magpie built a bridge for them to meet. In ancient times, girls had to pray for heaven, throw needles into the water, and pray for dexterity. They can also go out to play in that day because ancient girls were not allowed to go out. 
Zhonyuan Ghost Festival, on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, is believed that the ghost can reture back from hell to earth to meet their family. In that day, the Chinese people burn incense and paper object to offer the ghost. 

6.Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is another festival for family reunion.On this day, we will have reunion dinner and moon cakes together.

7.National Day

National Day, on solar calendar Oct. 1, celebrates the founding of thePeople's Republic of China. We have holiday to celebrate both of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day for 7 day at least.

C.Chinese dietary Culture 

Influenced by many factors, such as Yin-Yang and Five Elements Philosophy, Taoist ,Neo-Confucianism, Confucian ethics and morality, as well as cultural and artistic achievements, dietary aesthetic fashion and national character characteristics, Chinese cooking techniques have been created in the history books to form a broad and profound Chinese  culture.

1.Eight Cuisines of China

Because of different customs, climate and cooking methods, Chinese catering has eight famous cuisines. They are Shandong cuisine, Sichuan cuisine, Guangdong cuisine, Su cuisine, Fujian cuisine, Zhejiang cuisine, Hunan cuisine and Huizhou cuisine.
Shandong cuisine pays attention to the quality of raw materials, picks up fresh with salt, strengthens fresh with soup, and emphasizes the purity of salty and fresh with seasoning.
Sichuan cuisine has a variety of flavors and dishes, with both fresh and mellow flavors, so as to make good use of spicy seasoning.
Cantonese cuisine is delicate, light, fresh but not vulgar, tender but not raw, oily and not greasy. Be good at stir-frying, and need to know the proper temperature and temperature of oil. Also compatible with many Western cuisine practices, pay attention to the momentum and grade of vegetables.
Su cuisine is rigorous in materials, emphasizes in color matching, and pays attention to shaping. Su cuisine prefer to choosing fresh in different season.
Fujian cuisine is especially good at "fragrance" and "flavor". It’s fresh, mellow, buckwheat and non-greasy style.
Hui cuisine is good at boiling, stewing and steaming, but less explosive and stir-fried dishes, heavy oil, heavy color and heavy fire.
Hunan cuisine has a variety of flavors and varieties; its color is oily and heavy, and it is practical; it is spicy, fragrant and tender.
Zhejiang cuisine is small and exquisite, handsome and elegant, delicious and tender, crisp, soft and refreshing.

2.Imperial Cuisine

The Qing Dynasty was the last feudal dynasty in China. It summed up and absorbed the traditional essence of Chinese food culture and developed Imperial Cuisine to the peak.
Imperial Cuisine mainly consists of three local cuisines, Manchu cuisine, Shandong cuisine and Su-Hang cuisine.Imperial Cuisine pay attention to the collocation of coarse and fine grains, meat and vegetable, health care, the pursuit of immortality, food and tableware collocation. And according to the Royal birthday, Festival needs, it make different dishes, and have different names.

3.Ethnic Minority Cuisine

These dishes were created by one of China’s 56 Ethnic Minority Groups. They are created using simple ingredients which are local to their respective locations. They combine locally grown and wild vegetables. These dishes have become quite popular in recent years due to their fresh and simple tastes. They are wonderful and unique.

D.Chinese Currency

The Chinese Currency is called Renminbi(RMB). The popular unit of RMB is 1 Jiao, 5 Jiao,1 Yuan,5 Yuan,10 Yuan,20 Yuan,50 Yuan,100 Yuan. 
In most of banks can exchange different currency to RMB. And now, there are ATM in 4 star and 5 star hotel of big cities.

E.Chinese Weather & Climate

China's climate is complex and diverse. There are temperate monsoon climate, subtropical monsoon climate, tropical monsoon climate, tropical rainforest climate, temperate continental climate and plateau mountain climate. From south to north, there are transtropical, subtropical, warm temperate, middle temperate and cold temperate climate zones.

F.Shopping in China 

China has a long history and culture, and many traditional crafts have been handed down. Moreover, because of the numerous nationalities and vast territory, many handicraft products have local and national characteristics. And with the rapid development of China, the goods are of high quality and low price, and many modern goods are liked by tourists.
1.When shopping in large shopping malls and supermarkets all over China, they are basically priced goods.
2.In the antique market, agricultural market, temple fair and other special markets, bargaining can be done.
3.There are many distinctive crafts sold in shops and stalls. They look the same, but there are still some differences due to handicraft, quality and other reasons.
4.Every city has its own special market. When traveling, you can plan out time to go shopping. At the same time, you can learn about the local living habits and customs.

G.China Hotel

For foreign tourists, four-star and five-star hotels are better choices, because the service staff here can basically speak English, and the environment is clean and sanitary.

H.China Education

Since ancient times, Chinese families have attached great importance to the education of their children. In ancient times, men had to learn poetry, calligraphy, etiquette, music, riding and shooting, learn to govern and so on. Women focused on mainly female handicraft, piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and housekeepers.
Now, students have nine years of compulsory education, high schools, universities need to enter their own examination, the competition is fierce. Therefore, parents pay attention to children's learning of various subjects, English, Chinese, mathematics is the basic curriculum from primary school to university, other courses are set according to the needs of the examination. At the same time, parents arrange many interesting classes on weekends and holidays, such as painting, music, intellectual development and so on. Before going to college, students basically don't have much rest time.

I.China transportation

With the continuous development of our economy, the importance of the transport industry has increased rapidly. The development and changes of both passenger and cargo transport have become an important part of the national economic development, and highway transport has become the most important part of the transport industry.The total mileage of highway reaches 2.1 million to 2.3 million kilometers. At present, the connection rate of urban expressway with population over 200,000 will reach 90%, and the total mileage of expressway will reach 50,000 kilometers.
For tourism, the main means of transport are air and rail transport.There are more than 260 domestic air routes and more than 100 cities, forming a domestic air trunk network with Beijing as the center and radiating to all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. In terms of international routes, China has signed navigation agreements with more than 40 countries and established business contacts with airlines in many countries and regions.

By the end of 2018, the total mileage of China's railways reached 131,000 kilometers, ranking second in the world; among them, the high-speed railway was nearly 30,000 kilometers, ranking first in the world.
